The Cleveland High School (CHS) Book Club and the CHS National Honor Society teamed together to volunteer at the Texas Families Literary Festival hosted by Story Square at Discovery Green in downtown Houston, Texas, this past Saturday, November 9th. When the CHS bus arrived, the festival was not festive. Upon investigation, it was learned the organizer had some staffing issues. Thankfully, CHS brought 33 students and 5 amazing teachers. Students were coordinated and sent forth. Within an hour, the festival was festive and running smoothly. The CHS students and teachers served at several booths and stations throughout the day and had time to enjoy the festivities. The grand finale for our team was a talk by the author of The Harrowing, Kristen Keisling. She gave an inspiring presentation using many of the CHS volunteers as props for her talk.
This is the 3rd year for this free literacy festival which normally attracts more than 2,500 visitors. Participants enjoyed cultural entertainment from around the world, free books, games, crafts, and lots of opportunities to talk with published authors. The CHS Book Club and the CHS National Honor Society are grateful for the opportunity to help this energetic organization to meet one of their goals; the goal to "keenly design and create spaces for parent-child educational interactions rooted in literacy...and fun family learning."

The halls of the Cleveland ISD Administration Building are starting to sparkle with holiday cheer! 🎅🎁 This year, each campus is spreading festive joy by decorating their own Christmas tree, with Northside Elementary, Southside Elementary, and C9 kicking off the decorating today! 🎨🌟

We're partnering with Montgomery County Overdose Prevention Endeavor (M-COPE) for a FREE community event on Overdose Prevention Awareness! Join us at CHS on Sunday, November 10th from 3-5PM for one of the most impactful events of the year.
Drug Intelligence Officer, Wendell Campbell with HHIDTA, will address issues with drug abuse, the impacts of illicit fentanyl and demonstrate the proper use of NARCAN. The Memorial Walkway will be available for viewing following the event.

The district is aware of water pressure issues currently being experienced around the city of Cleveland, causing water pressure issues at some of our campuses. The city has assured us that this issue will be resolved in 1-2 hours.
