We have corrected the issue and are working to ensure outdated content is properly archived across our digital platforms.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of our families, staff, and community.

Thank you for your continued support of Cleveland ISD.

Superintendent Dr. Glenn Barnes presented an award for the "Highest Scoring Campus" to Douglass Learning Academy (DLA). Received by Principal Travis Agnew, Agnew noted as a campus DLA has improved 20% over last year. In the past 5 years the DLA scorecard published by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) shows DLA to be an "A" campus twice and a "B" Campus once. In the past 5 years DLA has consistantly scored a "B" rating for STAAR scores. Lots of good numbers and ratings to celebrate.

What happens after high school? At Douglass Learning Academy (DLA) we are dedicated in helping our students graduate and prepare for their future. Sergeant Mark Villanueva of the US Marine Corps spoke about a future in military service. They had plenty to share about training in skills that will help students succeed even if they leave the Marines. They had plenty to share about the benefits afforded our service men and women. DLA students appreciated the opportunity to look into a future of career opportunities within the Marines.

"See You at the Pole" 2026, was a beautiful morning. At Eastside Elementary students, parents, and staff joined hands with staff from Douglass Learning Academy and an extra special guest, Superintedent Dr. Glenn Barnes. Eastside students did an excellent job officiating and praying. Prayers went up for Cleveland ISD students, staff, families, and community. Prayers went up for schools around the country. Prayers went up to squelch the tyranny of depression and anxiety that seems to lurk in our hallways. Participants enjoyed this time of peace, reflection, and community.

📱 Personal Communication Devices - State Law Reminder
Texas Education Code Sec. 37.082 establishes statewide expectations regarding student use of personal communication devices during the school day.
To help ensure a focused learning environment, students may not use personal communication devices while on school property during the instructional day. Devices, including cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds/headphones, tablets, and similar electronic devices, must remain stored in the student's backpack unless otherwise directed by school staff.
This policy applies to all Cleveland ISD campuses and is designed to:
• 📚 Minimize classroom distractions
• 👩‍🏫 Maximize instructional time
• 🎯 Keep students engaged in learning
• 🏫 Ensure consistency with Texas law
Please take a moment to review the attached graphic with your student. We appreciate the partnership of our families as we work together to provide the best possible learning environment for every student.
